Hello and welcome to the Joyful Minds Full Moon Cacao Ceremony, you are very welcome here. Open to all who wish to join, this is a night of deep relaxation, connection and grounding.
Cacao is raw chocolate that we drink. It is considered the ‘food of the gods’ and has been used for thousands of years in rituals. It is a an entheogen (also known as a plant medicine), a class of psychoactive (not psychedelic) substances that are found in plants that release naturally produced chemicals in the body that can invoke a change in mood and focus. Entheos translates to “full of the god, inspired” and gen means “to come into being”.
Every cacao ceremony is different and in the Joyful Minds Full Moon Cacao Ceremony we gather around the values of connection, presence and community. You can expect drawing on the wisdom of nature, a ‘journey’ to the shamanic drum (which may be guided or open with the setting of intentions), experiential self inquiry, sharing (if you are comfortable to), ritual, and tools to strengthen your inner guidance.
What you will need:
- Come with an openness and curiosity to the experience
- Wear comfortable loose clothing
- Journal and pen to record your experience
- Water
- A blanket and cushion
- A covering for your eyes
A matt will be provided for you and you will be given a ceremonial dose of cacao to drink.
There are three sacred commitments that we make in ceremony:
1) Together we co create a safe and confidential space without judgement (to others and ourselves)
2) We offer no advice nor comment on other people’s experiences, recognising that we are all creative, resourceful and whole
3) We give ourselves and each other the gift of time and space, with the promise not to interrupt each other

I attended Sarah’s first Cacao ceremony in May and it was an absolute treat for the soul. It was my first ceremony of the kind and I absolutely loved it. I walked in (on a Friday night) carrying the weight of a stressful week and left feeling calm, serene and oh so much lighter.
Sarah guided the ceremony with poise, mastery and fluidity. I felt carried by a gentle stream of sacred light energy throughout. The guided visualisation to the sound of the Celtic drum was absolutely beautiful.
I went home feeling centered, calm, clear and enjoyed the best night sleep in ages. I can honestly say that a week on I still feel the benefit.

I went to my first cacao ceremony and it was magical. It was so lovely to gather together in person with like minded souls who were drawn to the ceremony and a shared experience. I went with an open heart and mind, seeking connection and guidance. The ceremony was beautifully led by Sarah. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to drop in to the guided visualisation and meditation as my very active mind struggles to let go. But once the shamanic drumming began and I grounded myself with deep breaths, I was able to let go and allow myself to be carried away by the experience. I felt safe and held in a very supportive space. A truly wonderful experience.

I attended the May cocoa ceremony to experience something new. I would recommend this as an exploration of yourself and, also, a grounding experience. I enjoyed the evening and found it a very safe space to share my experience in. The ceremony was well held and intimate. I would recommend this to you all to try.
